Introduction

Lube hydro-upgrading technology (RLT) developed by SINOPEC is a hydro-upgrading technology to produce high quality lube base oil from paraffinic or intermediate VGO. The lube base oil meets the criteria for group II and III of API base stock classification. The by-products include high quality of paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax and solvent oil.

Technical Characteristics

1. Operation Flexibility
(1) Making full use of the existing units for conventional lube processing such as solvent refining unit and solvent dewaxing unit, etc.
(2) Using all vacuum distillates from solvent refining as feedstock could properly lower the pressure during hydrotreating and therefore save investments.
(3) The technology has good operation flexibility by the fact that the operating parameters in each unit could be adjusted according to the properties of feedstock and the requirements of products.
(4) The base oil with viscosity index (VI) over 95 or even greater than 120 could be produced by RLT from the intermediate VGO. The by-products are high quality paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax.
(5) The yield of base oil and wax is over 75%. The units can maintain good performance when the processing load changes within a large range from 60% to 110%.
2. Feedstock Adaptability
RLT technology is developed for the production of high quality lube base oil and wax products from paraffinic or intermediate VGO.
3. Product Specification
The base oil with viscosity index (VI) over 95 or even greater than 120 could be produced by RLT from the intermediate VGO. Paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax as by-products meet national standards.
4. Operating period
The continuous operating period is not less than 3 years. The life of primary catalysts is not less than 6 years.
