Introduction

Cracking C5 fractions are by-products in ethylene manufacturing process of steam cracking. Most C5 fractions are reactive and thus can be uesd to produce value –added products. The mono-olefins and diolefins from the C5 fractions can be used to product many fine petrochemical products such as isoprene rubber, thermoplastic elastomer, butyl rubber, ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM), petroleum resin, unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin curing agent, various additives, pesticide intermediate, medicament intermediate and perfume.
The content of isoprene (ISP), cyclopentadiene (CPD, usually existing in the form of dimmer, dicyclopentadiene) and piperylene (PIP) with high value in the C5 fractions is 45%-55%, other components are isopentene, 1-pentene, n-pentane, isopentane and cyclopentane. The boiling points and relative volatilities of these fractions are similar, and azeotropes are formed easily. These fractions are difficult to separate. However, the application value of these products can be embodied only by separation with high purity.

Technical Characteristics

1. Extraction solvent: DMF was used as extraction solvent in the extraction distillation.
2. Unique polymerization inhibitor system: The unique polymerization inhibitor system can inhibit the auto-polymerization of ISP, CPD, and PIP in the C5 fractions effectively, so the plant can operate in long period.
3. Unique DMF hydrolysis restraining agent: The unique DMF hydrolysis restraining agent is added into the extraction distillation and extraction solvent recover system to prevent formation of methanoic acid and dimethylamine, and also to prevent formation of ammonium formate. This is to prevent the cauterization and plugging in equipment, so the plant can operate in long period.
4. Advanced CPD dimerization technology and unique tubular reactor: The selectivity of dimerization reaction is improved, the formation of norbornene from the dimerization of ISP and CPD is decreased remarkably, and the yields of the three diolefins products and the quality of DCPD product are improved remarkably due to the the proprietary and modified CPD dimerization technology and unique tubular reactor.
5. The plant can stably run in long period (up to 3 years).
