Introduction

Polyethylene is one of the most widely used synthetic polymers, and polyethylene plant is a major downstream plant of ethylene plant. In 1980s, SINOPEC began to develop its gas-phase polyethylene production process and at the end of 1990s succeeded in developing gas-phase fluidization bed polyethylene production technology (SGPE), which has been applied to revamp of several existing polyethylene plants. In 2009, the first grass-root polyethylene plant using SGPE technology was built and started up successfully. After continuously modifications and improvements, SGPE technology has been licensed to several world-class-capacity polyethylene plants.

Technical Characteristics

1. Simplicity of process, less equipment, less material consumption, less energy consumption;
2. Because of the absence of solvent and of high activity of catalyst, solvent recovery, catalyst and oligomer removal are not needed;
3. Mild operation condition, high operation flexibility, smooth grade switch and stable product quality;
4. Condensing operation mode effectively solves the problem of removal of reaction heat, so time space yield of reactor is improved greatly;
5. Less waste emission and meeting environment requirement easily;
6. Compact plant design, small floor area, less operation and maintenance staff, less capital investment and operation expense.
